Video Segment #1 - Pedagogical Planning
ResponderBorrar1. List five teacher suggestions (Planning techniques and teacher behaviors.)
A) Create a supportive environment. Keep learners motivated and engaged. Students love interaction and body movements. Encourage students’ participation smiling and with gestures too.
B) Give diagnostic test at the beginning of the course to know students’ strengths and needs.
C) Give to our students some strategies to help them in their learning process.
D) Think about students abilities and avoid negative expressions. As teachers, we have to make they feel we trust them and they can do the assignments so, we should support them with positive words and phrases to increase their trust in themselves.
E) Individualize interaction. The best song for anybody is when we hear our names from others using a soft voice. Using this clue students feel important and they know we care or pay attention to them.
2. What did you notice about student reaction and behaviors in the classroom pictured?
They feel comfortable and secure about what they are doing. When students make mistakes, they accept suggestions from the teacher and they are willing to learn.
Video Segment #2 - Classroom Learning Systems
ResponderBorrar1. Please write no less than eight lines describing anything you particularly observe about any of the following aspects:
- Physical organization of classroom space: Desks and chairs are one in front of the other one. Students are sitting down face to face. There’s enough space from one group of chairs and tables from the others and that’s why students can move easily from their desks to the board, because tables and chairs are very well organized.
- Student movement. They can move from their chairs and tables slowly, they stand up to participate or the teacher can change the activity and students move easily anyway to the same group or another and they don’t hurt themselves. The organization of the classroom is a very important point to consider when planning activities.
- Class routines and teacher behaviors.
Students are focused in the instructions and the activity, they respect each other. Students listen the instructions of the teacher and she keeps control of the classroom, she talks aloud but with respect, she gives clear instructions of the activities and that’s why students know what to do. After the activity the teacher also keeps control of the classroom with respect and good behavior.
- Training of students and responsibilities assigned.
Students exchange ideas, work in groups or alone when necessary. Self-check and peer check help each other to make corrections and present a good job to the teacher. Through this, they realize what mistakes they did and at the same time it reinforces the trust in themselves. Classroom routines help students to know what the teacher expect from them and they know what exactly need to do
Video Segment #3 - Student Behavior (Discipline)
ResponderBorrar1. How do teachers maintain control and provide discipline in a way that puts the focus on learning? (Pedagogical basis or assumptions, teacher planning, teacher roles, routines, student roles, responsibilities, etc.)
a) Teachers give clear and brief instructions and explanations.
b) Classroom routines like: the objective of the classroom, attendance, asking for some homework or assignment let students know the teacher is well organized and all the lessons and activities are assigned with learning purposes.
c) Students role and responsibilities: Individual or group projects to encourage responsibility, punctuality; projects also develop creativity and students are engage in learning.
d) Teachers role: They are the authority in a classroom but students are treated with respect also. Teachers are proactive: promotes respect and provide some rules in the classroom to maintain a nice environment and encourage to help each other.
e) Rewards and behavioral goals. Explain what will be the results of good behavior, tell them about some prices or recognitions they can get at the end of the week because of their efforts and some probable consequences when teacher expectations from students are not full completed.
f) Teachers should consider discipline problems. Don’t take them for granted or ignore them. Some students need more attention than others and sometimes they just want to catch people attention through indiscipline.

Video Segment #2 - Classroom Learning Systems
1. Please write no less than eight lines describing anything you particularly observe about any of the following aspects:
- Physical organization of classroom space: the classroom has enough space that the arrangement of the chairs is in groups and leaving another part of the classroom free for physical activities. There are a lot of aids, materials and works paste on the walls but in an organize way that can help to develop the class and not become distractors. At the same time there is a free space to go to the door when is needed. Also, there are many shelves to put materials for classes and some stuffs of students. Some of the classrooms have technological equipment as computers or televisions. Each classroom has a calm working environment.
- Student movement: Students move freely from one place to another when is needed. Consistent students training at the beginning of the school year is an important aspect that helps set up systems for classroom behavior, so students can move easily and quickly from one activity to another, shift in and out for group work, and to self-check and peer-check student work.
- Class routines and teacher behaviors: teachers need to establish clear expectations and routines since the beginning of the year, so the students already know what they need to do or how they need to behave according teacher’s instructions, doing the activities of the day run smooth. Teachers need to give clear and brief explanations. They can establish daily routines for classroom such as attendance, homework corrections, paper distribution and collection, work completed, and so on. Many teachers find it useful to create smaller teaching units within the larger group.
- Training of students and responsibilities assigned: Put the agenda on the board and read it with the students at the beginning of the class for help students to know what the responsibilities for that day are. When possible give learners responsibility for choosing and doing individual projects in a group they have chosen. Display student works and projects. And use any available aides or volunteer help effectively.
Teachers need to use authority selectively and wisely. Teachers have the obligation to treat all students with respect, fairly, and to avoid humiliating them. As teachers we need to be proactive rather than reactive, we need to establish clear rules, and expectations. Also, we can let students to create their own agreed-on classroom conduct guides, or post class rules and behavior expectations on the wall in first and second language. The teachers can use reward systems, peer reinforcement, establish consequences for inappropriate behavior, and if is needed the teacher can postpone individual discipline matters until after class. Try to discover the reason for behavior in cases where there are consistent student discipline problems.
Careful planning, Consistency and a bit of creativity is crucial for teacher
1. List five teacher suggestions (Planning techniques and teacher behaviors.)
ResponderBorrar1. Individualized interaction. Whenever is possible a teacher must interact with students individually. The uses of their names give students the sense of importance, acceptance and recognition. It is crucial to stimulate student’s confidence to obtain a good rapport within classmates and teacher. A good technique for teachers to learn their student´s name is the use of name badges while working on it.
2. Rotate attention to students: As we mention before it is important the individualized interaction with students. A good strategy to use specially with large groups, is to work with them in pairs or small groups in activities that allow us to work in different situations or class days if necessary to get to all students.
3. Help students set learning goals that work well for them: It is important that a teacher takes the time to listen what students need to say. What they consider important based on their personal experiences, what strategies or how it could help them to achieve the learning goals. It will help teacher and students to know what strategies to use to increase learning and to ease the development of the course.
4. Students have a range of abilities: Differentiation or multiple intelligences is actually present on each class. Based on that fact, we must remember each student is a unique person with his/her personal point of view or individual way to do things. As teacher we must recognize this and avoid the labeling of students (he is brilliant or she is lazy, etc.) We must see it as a work in progress situation.
5. Allow students choice: This is a way to encourage students to be responsible and independent to choose ways to actively participate in class, and supporting other students in the process. Of course, we have to ensure it fits within the stablished educational framework, but focused to engage our students to participate and enjoy the class.
What did you notice about student reaction and behaviors in the classroom pictured?
ResponderBorrarActually students reacted positively listening and paying attention to teacher instructions and class. They actively participate and work on the activities performed. Their good behavior has a lot to do with well-organized and relaxed classroom environment.

Physical organization of classroom space: The classroom was properly arranged. It was neat and well organized for students and teacher. The decoration at place was appropriate and attractive for the class needs and students. The classrooms have specific structured areas for student’s interaction.
Student movement: The classroom was organized in a way that students could have enough mobility to interact in the activities with teacher and classmates.
Class routines and teacher behaviors: The teacher used clear and brief instructions for students to follow. The stablished routines were consistent allowing students to know what was expected from them. The teacher created a good rapport within class and as a result students followed the instructions and participated in class. Teacher seems to be relaxed and available for students in a very respectful way.
Training of students and responsibilities assigned: Students knew their responsibilities and stablished routines. They helped to organize the classroom after activities. They were very well train to pass from one activity to another, to work in group orderly. They knew that also one of their responsibilities was to help peers to achieve a task effectively.

Maintaining control of the classroom must be treating al students fairly and avoid humiliate them. If the teacher respect the students it is going to be the other way around to.
Teacher can stablish clear rules and expectations and then follow them for all students, it is very important to be consistence to maintain a good environment in classroom. Posters pasted in the wall with the rules of the class can be very helpful. Reward system helps students to never forget the behavior goals that they are looking forward. There is no just one way to do it right, teacher needs a correct planning, consistence and creativity to reach the goal in students behavior.
As teachers we should be aware of the golden rule “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them” The respect to students will bring the respect for the teacher and his/her class. The authority is something that has to be earned. The fairly treatment to all students will make them understand clearly the expectations of the teacher. The establishment or rules, roles and routines in conjunction with students will create a proactive environment instead a future reactive response by the teacher. The discipline must be wisely applied and individualized as possible to avoid humiliation to student. Consistency in disciplinary actions is crucial, but to discover the reason for misbehavior is more productive.

Class routines and teacher behavior: this really catches my attention, it say that the routines have to be clear established, and carefully followed. I believe that is very important for students and teacher to set routines activities specially when is time to teach vocabulary, the more you use the more engage our students will get, I mean that students will get just to it and will come naturally from them, also is important the students know what teacher expect from them, regardless of this is important to mention how significant can be to change activities that way students won’t get boring , well is also important that students know dates precisely that way they can’t be confuse or forget important activities .suggest to create a calendar in the bulletin that way students will remember daily their assignments
Video Segment #3 - Student Behavior (Discipline)
1. How do teachers maintain control and provide discipline in a way that puts the focus on learning? (Pedagogical basis or assumptions, teacher planning, teacher roles, routines, student roles, responsibilities, etc.)
From one I see one of the most important in the class is respect, this is something than you build in your students you can impose respect, the more respect we give them, the more we will get, create the classroom rules all together is also important that way students will know that they create and they follow it, something they propose, they won’t see as a demand, when we have a students with a behavior or discipline problem, we usually mark hem or her as the bad behavior students, but never take the time to talk to this student and figure out the reason of his or her discipline problem in order to work and make this students different, is important to give to the students responsibilities in order to build the new responsible generation. remember teacher make the different.

Segment #2
Please write no less than eight lines describing anything you particularly observe about any of the following aspects:
The classroom must be be organized to provide the effective learning in the students. Always allowing student moving through the class. Particularly I believe that routines are good tools to apply in the school program. They provide a safe enviorment for the student specially the little ones that are having for the very first time the school experience. This also provides order in the procedures of each assignment or tasks keeping the class under the best conditions for the students to learn.
To continue following the plan of the class is a good idea to work in small groups, to be sure that everybody will participate. With classes well organized and planned the students feel motivated and engaged to follow the instructions of the teacher. They show active participating all the time. Interacting each other trying to complete the work and also checking themselves.
Segment #3
How do teachers maintain control and provide discipline in a way that puts the focus on learning? (Pedagogical basis or assumptions, teacher planning, teacher roles, routines, student roles, responsibilities, etc.)
Using the authority wisely treating our students fairly without humiliating. Giving respect is the only way to receive it back. Defining good and clear rules for our students to follow. Together students and teacher can create a behavior code. Post the class rules and expectation. Establish consequences for the misbehavior in order to know about what will happen if they disobey. Set up activities to move in to the classroom promoting good behavior in the students.

D- individualize interaction as much as possible
E- learn students' names or make them have a name tag to have more interaction with them.
2. What did you notice about student reaction and behaviors in the classroom pictured?
Most of students pay attention to the class, even though some of them don't do it, the teacher has to be always in control, he is the one setting the rules, so he is the one that stops and makes things go according to what he has planned.

1. Please write no less than eight lines describing anything you particularly observe about any of the following aspects:
- Physical organization of classroom space.
- Student movement.
- Class routines and teacher behaviors.
- Training of students and responsibilities assigned.
Physical organization of classroom space:
Students are organized mostly in tables of four people each one, this is because scholars recommend groups of four ever; students work better if they are organized in this way and they work equally, besides, is easier to control groups than controlling individuals, we can set a coordinator for each group and that will help us to maintain the order during the class. Students are always organized in this way and they also get their personal space from one table to the other, this is made in order to have students moving around when needed without any difficulty.
Video Segment #3 - Student Behavior (Discipline)
1. How do teachers maintain control and provide discipline in a way that puts the focus on learning? (Pedagogical basis or assumptions, teacher planning, teacher roles, routines, student roles, responsibilities, etc.)
We as teachers are the ones in control of what happens in our classroom, even though, we have the obligation to treat every single student equally. If we want to maintain the control, we have to be straight when it needed, but comprehensive too. We cannot let anything we did not plan happen, or let students gain excessive confidence with us, this could influence the way students look at us, and the development of the class, even more if it is a large class. Controlling a whole classroom is a very hard thing to do, when we are fresh teachers is even harder, but with experience acquired, we can achieve it.

Class routines and teacher behaviors:
Out of all options setting classroom routines with students is the most helpful of all, because even if it takes a lot of time and effort at the beginning of the school year. I can assure it will be very rewarding when your classroom is filled with students that are independent and proactive during lessons. As you build upon those routines, they will become confident and feel at ease moving around the class while activities take place. Sometimes I find myself wanting to give up with a certain routine, but then I remind myself about the benefits students get from having clear routines…Se me pasa.
Video Segment #3 - Student Behavior (Discipline)
1. How do teachers maintain control and provide discipline in a way that puts the focus on learning? (Pedagogical basis or assumptions, teacher planning, teacher roles, routines, student roles, responsibilities, etc.)
Teachers know of the authority they are entitled of and need to use it selectively and wisely. Therefore it means they should avoid embarrassing or humiliating their students when correcting discipline. It is up to the teacher to decide if the behavior of a student or group needs to be addressed right away or postpone it for the sake of the learning process that it will be stopped. It is very important that teachers respect students so they earn respect back. A good way of tackling this is by being proactive instead of reactive. As well as creating a set of rules together and being consistent with consequences that the class agreed on. Don’t forget to have a reward system too and reinforce students´ good behavior as you possibly can.

Video Segment #1 - Pedagogical Planning
ResponderBorrar1. List five teacher suggestions (Planning techniques and teacher behaviors.)
a. Break student tasks into manageable 'chunks': Consider breaking a larger task into smaller or easier 'chunks' that the student will more willingly undertake. If the student must complete a large number of subtasks, include an occasional 'fun break'.
b. Use a normal, natural voice: Raising our voice to get students' attention is not the best approach, and the stress it causes and the vibe it puts in the room just isn't worth it. The students will mirror your voice level, so avoid using that semi-shouting voice. If we want kids to talk at a normal, pleasant volume, we must do the same.
c. Speak only when students are quiet and ready: Just wait and then wait some more until all students were quiet. Fight the temptation to talk. Slowly but surely, the students would cue each other: "sshh, she's trying to tell us something," "come on, stop talking," and "hey guys, be quiet."
d. Use hand signals and other non-verbal communication: Holding one hand in the air, and making eye contact with students is a great way to quiet the class and get their attention on you. Flicking the lights off and on once to get the attention is an oldie but goodie.
e. Address behavior issues quickly and wisely: Be sure to address an issue between you and a student or between two students as quickly as possible. Now, for handling those conflicts wisely, you and the student should step away from the other students; wait until after instruction if possible, avoiding interruption of the lesson.
2. What did you notice about student reaction and behaviors in the classroom pictured?
I noticed that students where focused in their activities while paying attention and following instructions and willing to collaborate with ideas for the class discussion.
Video Segment #2 - Classroom Learning Systems
It seemed the classroom was well organized for the specific group’s needs, providing and active learning environment since the students could move around freely when needed. When it comes to routines in class and teacher behavior, it is a rule of thumb that the teacher sets the rules on how the class will work from the beginning of the year (or term) but we know that in actual practice this can change as the course moves on. A set of instructions or expectations can be discussed so the students know what to expect from the class. The same goes when letting them know the we as teacher expect them to be responsible with the work load assigned in class, brainstorming, working in groups or individually, collaborative learning and so on.
Video Segment #3 - Student Behavior (Discipline)
Always have a well-designed, engaging lesson. It's better to run out of time than to run short on a lesson. Bored students equal trouble! If the lesson is poorly planned, there is often way too much talking and telling from the teacher and not enough hands-on learning and discovery by the students. Provide lots of positive feedback. Don't forget them; recognize their contributions and behavior:
Acknowledge positive student behavior when it is not expected, compliance with requests, hard work, kindness, and dependability.
The key to an effective discipline policy in any classroom is consistency.
If you have a rule, enforce that rule.
Don't hand out lots of warnings without following through on consequences. Lots of warnings tell students that you won't enforce a rule.
Be fair and impartial. The rules are there for everyone.
